He was abrasive just as he was loved.

Don Rickles was abrasive, no doubt about that. He was an honorary Rat Pack member and celebrity roaster extraordinaire, whose career spanned an amazing six decades. He passed away at age 90 in his home is Los Angeles. He would have been 90 on May 8.

He appeared in films and on television, but he was most at home doing nightclub performances, appearing in Los Angeles among other places well into his 80s.

He was the voice of Mr. Potato Head in the “Toy Story” films, which performed exceptionally well at the box office.  He was also a frequent guest on late night talk shows.

Rickles “rude” brand of humor, while enjoyed better in person, also landed him some record deals on albums such as “Hello Dummy!” and “Don Rickles Speaks.”

Survivors include Rickles’ wife of 52 years, Barbara; a daughter and a son; and two grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Larry Rickles Endowment Fund at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
